North Carolina has a long history of wildfires. As more people move into natural areas, the risk of wildfires increases. Fortunately, there are modifications homeowners can make to their home and landscape to be more fire-resistant.
This hands-on workshop is intended to teach community members, Master Gardener℠ volunteers, and natural resource and Extension professionals about fire-resistant landscaping, or firescaping. The workshop will cover firescaping basics, NC fire-resistant plants, and procedures for conducting a home landscape risk assessment.
This workshop occurs prior to the Aug. 2-3 NC Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting.
