Beginning in 2013, Diane Salmon had a vision for getting the community involved in gardening. Just one year later, she was joined by Beth Dixon – a member of the Master Gardener℠ volunteers – to start their first community garden. The Deep Roots Community Garden in Mocksville, North Carolina soon spread to two locations. The gardens feature a wide variety of vegetables, flowers, and even bees! The ladies work tirelessly to donate their produce, get children involved, educate others on gardening, and provide fresh fruits and vegetables to the local community.
