Mason bees and leafcutting bees are highly sought-after pollinators whose activity can improve the productivity or seed set of fruit trees, gardens, and other plantings. This webinar will present methods for attracting these pollinators with nesting materials – often known as “bee hotels”, introduce some of the many other beneficial species that may also use these nesting sites, and cover the maintenance required to keep a healthy bee hotel.

May 26: Where the Wild Things Are – Larval Host Plants for Butterflies and Moths

Moths and butterflies are picky eaters. Of the 150,000 described species, over 99.9% of the larvae are herbivores, and most of those species have a very limited palette of plants on which they feed. In this talk, we will focus on the challenges of being an herbivore, what it means to be a specialist, and the plants you can choose to help support the larval forms of just a few of our most treasured and interesting Lepidopteran species.
