2024 Extension Gardener: Learn to Grow Series

Are you interested in learning more about gardening? Come take a class with N.C. Extension of Haywood County. The Learn to Grow series and Lifelong Gardening classes provide our community with information presented by Horticulture Agent, Rachel Douglas and NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers on a full variety of home gardening topics. Classes provide research-based, unbiased information on current garden and landscape practices.

All classes will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Haywood County Center located at 589 Raccoon Road in Waynesville. Pre-registration is required. You may register below via an online form or by calling 828-456-3575. The $10 class fee will be accepted at the door and may be paid by exact cash or check (made payable to Haywood County Cooperative Extension).

Lifelong Gardening Techniques and Equipment – Wednesday, April 3. 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Register for Lifelong Gardening here!

Studies have shown that gardening has numerous health benefits for all ages and physical abilities/limitations. Gardening does not have to end when mobility and other issues arise. This hands-on workshop covers the basics of good body mechanics to help protect and support joints including backs, various alternative garden styles, ergonomically designed and adaptive tools, and ways to inexpensively adapt tools already on hand. Lifestyle and physical changes do not mean we have to give up gardening, it just means changing the way we garden.

Please also consider joining us for our free classes taught by Master Gardener volunteers at other locations around Haywood County.
