Fine fescue is among our most shade tolerant turfgrasses and has reasonable drought tolerance, if allowed to go dormant under drought conditions. When cooler temperatures and water become available, it will begin to grow again. However, it can be heavily damaged from severe drought, especially compared to our most drought tolerant warm-season turfgrasses.
