Average First and Last Frost Dates

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the State Climate Office of NC have created an online tool to enable you to calculate the average first and last frost dates as well as the average growing days in your area.

Screen Shot Station Selection Button The “Options Selection” menu will open, where you can chose whether you’d like to see the resulting data in a table (default), graph, or CSV, followed by your time frame of interest by typing a first and last year into the “Year Range” boxes (the default is for all the years there is data for that station). You do not need to make any additional adjustments to the options since the default threshold is 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Screen Shot of Map You can select a specific station by either clicking on the map that appears to the right, or selecting from the drop-down menu that pops up on the left of the page just under the search box.
Screen Shot Results Once you’ve chosen a station, click the “Go” button, and the results will be displayed on the right-hand side of the page.
